The state elections in Liechtenstein in 2009 took place on February 6th and 8th, 2009. All 25 mandates in the Landtag of the Principality of Liechtenstein have been filled.

Bottom line

The liberal-conservative Fatherland Union (VU) achieved a vote increase of 9.4 percentage points compared to the parliamentary elections in Liechtenstein in 2005, a result of 47.6%, which corresponds to 13 of the 25 seats. It received 95,219 votes. The conservative Progressive Citizens' Party in Liechtenstein (FBP) won 43.5% of the vote (–5.2 percentage points). Otmar Hasler then resigned as head of government. His party received 86,951 votes. The green free list reached 8.9% (–4.1 percentage points) and only one seat left. The turnout was 84.6%.
