The state election in Liechtenstein in 1989 took place on March 5, 1989 and was the regular election of the legislature of the Principality of Liechtenstein. All 15 members of the Landtag of the Principality of Liechtenstein were elected by the people of the country in the two constituencies of the Oberland and Unterland.

With the Free List , a third party took part in the state elections for the first time in twelve years. With 7.6% of the vote, however, it failed at the 8% hurdle. It was also the first choice after women gained the right to vote on May 1, 1984. Among other things, this is reflected in the number of eligible voters, which more than doubled from 5,246 in 1982 to 12,512.
