Renate Müssner (born January 27, 1957 in Eschen ) is a former Liechtenstein politician ( VU ). From 2009 to 2013 she was a member of the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein as a member of the government .

Müssner has a PhD in natural sciences . She lives in Nendeln (municipality of Eschen ) and is interested in music, literature and languages ​​in her free time. In addition to her mother tongue German, she also speaks English, Spanish, Russian and Greek.

Education and career

After graduating from the humanistic grammar school in Feldkirch , Renate Müssner studied pharmacy from 1976 to 1982 at the natural science faculty of the University of Innsbruck . She then worked on her doctoral thesis at the Institute of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, University of Innsbruck and was able in 1986 her doctorate obtain a Doctor of Science.

From 1986 to 2001, the doctor of chemistry worked in the field of research and development as head of the preclinical department at the Liechtenstein industrial company Ivoclar AG in Schaan. After this long-term activity, she worked for several years as a freelance consultant for companies in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry / medicinal chemistry until she was elected government councilor in March 2009. She also served as a lay judge at the Supreme Court of the Principality of Liechtenstein for a number of years .

In 2005 Renate Müssner became deputy head of government at the time, Klaus Tschütscher, and also worked in various working groups of the Fatherland Union (VU). The focus of her work was on dealing with health and social policy issues. She attached particular importance to improving the framework conditions for home care. After the Fatherland Union emerged as the strongest party in the state elections in 2009 , Renate Müssner was a full-time member of the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein from March 25, 2009. As a member of the government, she was responsible for health, social affairs and the environment, space, agriculture and forestry.

Even in the run-up to the state elections in Liechtenstein in 2013 , it became clear that Renate Müssner would no longer run as a member of the government, which is why she resigned from the government office when the new government was sworn in on March 27, 2013.
