Martin Meyer (born June 10, 1972 in Grabs , Switzerland ) is a former Liechtenstein politician ( FBP ). From 2005 to 2013 he was a member of the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein as a member of the government, and since March 25, 2009, he has also been the deputy head of government.

Meyer holds a doctorate in economics . He is married and lives in Gamprin with his wife and two daughters and two sons .

biography

After completing compulsory school, Martin Meyer studied business administration at the University of Bern from 1992 . He completed this degree in 1996. He then worked from 1996 to 1999 as a research assistant and department head at the university in the Institute for Information Systems . During this time he also worked on his dissertation and was able to obtain his doctorate in economics in 1999.

Following his departure from the academic environment of the University of Bern, Meyer worked in Vaduz from 1999 to 2000 as a project manager at Verwaltungs- und Privatbank AG. In 2000 and 2001 he was employed by the RBC Group, IGIM AG in St. Gallen as a management consultant and member of the management.

In 2001 Martin Meyer worked for the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein for the first time as an employee in the departments of Home Affairs, Economics and Communication. Two years later, in 2003, after Reto Brunhart's resignation, Meyer was appointed interim head of the Liechtenstein National Police and thus chief of police in the Principality. During this activity, Martin Meyer was also Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of LTN Liechtenstein TeleNet AG and Member of the Board of Telekom FL AG.

In 2004 Meyer was appointed head of the Office for Economic Affairs in the Liechtenstein government. Shortly afterwards, on April 21, 2005, he was elected to the government of the Liechtenstein State Parliament as a councilor. Since 2005 the government council has also been a member of the Presidium of the Progressive Citizens' Party.

After the new government was formed in 2009, Meyer took over the business, transport and construction departments, whereupon he also became deputy head of government in March 2009. In the 2013 state elections in Liechtenstein , Meyer no longer stood for election and resigned from office with the inauguration of the new government on March 27, 2013.

In 2013 he was awarded the Commander's Cross with Star of the Princely Liechtenstein Order of Merit .
