Reto Brunhart

Reto Brunhart (* 1954 in Balzers ) was Police Chief of the Liechtenstein National Police from March 1, 1997 to August 31, 2003 .

Life

After school and professional training, Brunhart attended the police school in Chur , where he graduated in 1975. In the same year he joined the Princely Liechtenstein Security Corps, which later became the National Police. In 1991 he became Chief of Staff and Head of Command Services. In 1993 he was also appointed deputy chief of police. Furthermore he was press officer and police spokesman until November 1996. On March 1, 1997 Brunhart became police chief of the Liechtenstein national police. He held this post until his resignation on August 31, 2003. Martin Meyer became his successor on an interim basis. After his resignation, Brunhart himself worked for various international organizations, including the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe , in the field of security sector reform. From 2005 he worked for three years in the office of the special coordinator of the Stability Pact for Southeastern Europe , Erhard Busek . Since 2008 he has worked for the Geneva Center for the Democratic Control of the Armed Forces .

Brunhart is married and has two children, a son and a daughter. In 2003 he was awarded the Great Decoration of Honor of the Republic of Austria .
