Lélio wants to marry the rich countess. He's after your fortune. When he hears about an even richer lady from Paris, he tries to get rid of the countess: his new friend, the Chevalier, should inherit his heart from the aristocrat. Little does he suspect that behind the mask of the Chevalier there is a woman, the well-heeled lady from Paris who, with wise foresight, would like to examine the character of her future husband in masquerade. She quickly recognizes who she is dealing with and devises salutary educational measures, which, however, are repeatedly thwarted by those of her stupid servants, whose only endeavor is to capitalize on every situation.
