Bernd Weisbrod

Bernd Weisbrod (born March 27, 1946 in Heidelberg ) is a German historian and was a professor at the University of Göttingen.

Life

Weisbrod studied history, politics and English in Heidelberg and Berlin and received his doctorate in 1976 from the Ruhr University Bochum . He was then a research assistant in Bochum and a fellow at the German Historical Institute in London . After substituting professorships in Hagen and Bielefeld , he was Professor of Medieval and Modern History at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen from 1990 until his retirement in 2011 . Dirk Schumann took over his chair . In Göttingen, Weisbrod headed the Lower Saxony Contemporary History Working Group (ZAKN) and between 2005 and 2011 was the spokesman for the DFG Graduate School "Generational History". His academic students include Frank Bösch and Habbo Knoch .
