Netzzeit is an Austrian association that promotes and enables music theater . The association was founded in 1984 and is now run by Nora and Michael Scheidl as artistic directors.

history

Netzzeit was founded in Vienna in 1984 with the task of realizing theater that is not possible in the conventional theater sector or does not take place there for other reasons. Over the years, netzzeit has realized interdisciplinary, international music theater of the present in the border area between art, science and politics, often in cooperation with large international festivals such as the Munich Biennale , the Venice Biennale, SESC / São Paulo / Brazil, Holland Festival , Eight Bridges Cologne, but also local festivals and stages, such as the Bregenz Festival , Wiener Festwochen or with the jungle Vienna.

Since 2005 netzzeit has organized the festival Out of Control biennal - a festival for new music theater.

“Anyone who goes to the theater with us has to be curious. We're not doing the kind of theater in which you see for the hundredth time that the puppet hits the crocodile on the head with a beating. Our audience must have the courage to get involved in unfamiliar situations. "
