Christine Gaigg

Christine Gaigg (* 1960 in Linz , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian choreographer and dancer .

Life

Christine Gaigg studied philosophy, linguistics and theater studies at the University of Vienna . She then completed dance and choreography training at the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam . Since 1994 Gaigg has been realizing choreographic concepts under the Christine Gaigg / 2nd nature label , mostly in collaboration with composers of new music, for example with Max Nagl , Bernhard Gander and Bernhard Lang as well as the director Philipp Harnoncourt .

In addition to her choreographic work, Christine Gaigg wrote for the magazine Performance Research from 1995 to 2001 . She was a board member of T-junction , an association for the promotion of contemporary dance in Austria. From 1991 to 1995 she taught at the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam and since 1996 she has been teaching performance theory at the Institute for Theater Studies at the University of Vienna, and since 2012 at the University of Hamburg . She worked for Falter as a film editor until 1984. In 2001 Christine Gaigg was awarded the Austrian Dance Production Prize for Sacre Material .

Christine Gaigg lives and works in Vienna.
