Philipp Harnoncourt (director)

Philipp Harnoncourt (born September 20, 1955 in Vienna ) is an Austrian director , playwright and lighting designer .

biography

The son of Alice Harnoncourt and Nikolaus Harnoncourt worked in the theater business from a young age. First he designed the lighting and stage design for numerous opera, dance and theater productions. Inspired by his first experiences with the baroque opera cycle of the Wiener Schauspielhaus , he has also been working increasingly as a director since the mid-1990s. Philipp Harnoncourt also appeared as an author of plays.

From 1993 to 2002 Philipp Harnoncourt was the technical director of the Viennese dance festival ImPulsTanz , and in the 2000/01 opera season he was also the manager of the Wiener Schauspielhaus under Hans Gratzer . 2006–2008 he staged an opera every year at the classical music festival “Kultur im Schloss Kirchstetten ”.
