Parra for Cuva (born August 27, 1991 in Northeim as Nicolas Demuth ) is a German producer of electronic music and DJ .
Life
Musical beginnings
Nicolas Demuth grew up in Northeim near Göttingen in Lower Saxony . At the age of eleven he learned to play the piano and was interested a. a. for pieces by Debussy . After changing his piano teacher, he started doing jazz improvisations with a focus on jazz piano. In 2009 Nicolas Demuth began to print out midi piano sheet music using a simple program and mixed his first piano pieces with hip-hop elements.
After graduating from high school, Nicolas Demuth moved to Berlin to study audio design. Nicolas Demuth first called himself Natur-Klang before he decided on the stage name Parra for Cuva. His stage name Parra for Cuva is an artistic creation of Spanish and English origin and is supposed to mean 'Between the Worlds'.
2013–2014: First successes and breakthrough
Nicolas Demuth and Annika Klose grew up as neighbors and they have been friends since they were young. Under the name Nian , they released various songs together and played local appearances. Nicolas Demuth played the piano, while Anna Naklab played the guitar and sang. The musical focus was on calm and relaxed compositions. In spring 2013 Nicolas Demuth released Fading Nights on the French label Delicieuse Musique Records together with Annika Klose, who operated under the stage name Anna Naklab . Another joint production of Something Near followed on the Berlin label Imprint Well Done Music! In September 2013, Wicked Games was published by Nicolas Demuth and Anna Naklab. The track is a rework of Chris Isaak’s Wicked Game , released on the Spinnin Records label. Wicked Games entered the top 5 of the UK iTunes charts in England and made Nicolas Demuth internationally famous. Shortly thereafter, the EP Luhya followed with Anna Naklab on the Delicieuse Musique Records label. In 2014 Nicolas Demuth released another EP with the artists Egokind and Jona Mayr on the Lenient Tales label and the EP Veiled in blue on the Traum / TRAUMV179 label.
2015: Majouré
In January 2015, Nicolas Demuth's debut album Majouré was released on the Lenient Tales label. The album features twelve tracks in which guest musicians such as rapper Nieve, electro soul diva Casey K. and Monsoonsiren can be found. All songs have an electronic foundation with a variety of other musical influences from various genres.
2016: Darwīš
In May 2016, Parra for Cuva's 2nd album was released with the support of Jonas Lechenmayr (alias Senoy). For the creation process of the album, Parra for Cuva and Senoy undertook a multi-week trip with their own small bus across Europe to the Spanish coast in the summer of 2015 after their semester.
A darwīš is an ascetic monk who is on the path of Sufism and who realizes his own “poverty compared to God's riches”. He is known for both humility and discipline. Material possessions are indifferent to him. The record was released by the Berlin label "Project Mooncircle".
2017: Mood in C
In 2017 the EP Mood in C was released . The title song Mood in C was composed according to the Ethiopian pentatonic scale. In addition, Demuth combines guitar effects with synths. All sounds were recorded analogously with the help of effect devices. The song Unfinished Colors together with Others is the first collaboration in a future joint project. All percussion was recorded either while traveling or at home with everyday objects.
2018: Paspatou
In November Parra for Cuva's third album Paspatou was released .

Nicolas Demuth's pieces combine elements of house music and pop, piano compositions and downtempo . Many of Nicolas Demuth's electronic pieces are created on the piano using sketches or complete solo pieces. Artists like Ludovico Einaudi and Bonobo (musicians) are sources of inspiration, among other things. His set Plains of Ostara begins with Einaudi's work Andare . In addition to the piano, other instruments such as a kalimba , steel drum , glockenspiels , guitar and accordions are used for the productions.
