Manuela Kerer

Manuela Kerer (* 1980 in Brixen ) is an Italian composer of German mother tongue from South Tyrol .

Life

Kerer studied violin and composition at the Tyrolean State Conservatory . Further composition studies led her to Alessandro Solbiati in Milan. At the same time, she completed studies in law and psychology at the University of Innsbruck . After graduate degrees in both subjects she received the submitted dissertations music and dementia as well as on behalf of all artists, art and social progress: the development of the rights of composers, the example of selected personalities and with particular reference to Austria the promotion in both Fans.

Her works include compositions for orchestra such as κύκλος tίς κρίσις (2011), choral works and chamber music compositions, such as seelenblitz (2012) for string quartet or the setting of 7 laws of the Italian penal code for string sextet (SCH) LEX (2005). Music- theatrical works and operas are another focus ( Whatever works , 2015, Plenissimo , 2015), as well as the compositional examination of other fields such as dance , drama , architecture or literature . Kerer also likes to write for children, young people and laypeople.

Works by Manuela Kerer written for ensembles like the soloist ensemble Kaleidoscope Berlin, the Klangforum Wien , the Ensemble series , the Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie , ascolta and exceptional artists such as Julius Berger (cello) , Maja Ratkje or Sarah Maria Sun . They have been performed at festivals such as the Munich Biennale for contemporary music theater, Ultrasound Berlin , Wien Modern and in concert halls in Berlin and Vienna, at Kampnagel Hamburg, in Radialsystem Berlin, in the Accademia Filarmonica Romana , in New York, London or on Lake Titicaca .

Kerer's works are published by Breitkopf & Härtel. They have been recorded on numerous CDs, a portrait CD was released as part of the ORF Edition Zeitton.

In addition to her weekly column "Kerers Saite" in the South Tyrolean daily newspaper " Dolomiten ", the composer designs and moderates the radio program for contemporary music "Querschnitte" on the RAI broadcaster South Tyrol. From 2012 to 2016 Manuela Kerer was a member of the board of directors of the Haydn Orchestra .

  • In 2016 she is composer in residence at the St. Gallen / Styria Festival.
