Emil Berlanda Prize

The Emil Berlanda Prize , named after the composer Emil Berlanda (1905–1960), was awarded from 1981 to 2011 as a music prize by the State of Tyrol .

The prize was awarded as the Tyrolean state prize to personalities for special services to contemporary music . It was donated by the widow Magdalena Berlanda at the suggestion of Othmar Costa. The prize was awarded every two years and was most recently endowed with 5,100 euros. The award was ended in the course of discussions about the namesake and his Nazi past. The price continues neutrally as the price for contemporary music .
