The Bowsprit Point ( English for bowsprit ) is a headland at the northeast end of Leskov Island in the archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands . It marks the entrance to the crater bay to the north .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee gave the headland its descriptive name in 1971 because of its resemblance to a bowsprit.
