Boy Meets Girl (band)
Boy Meets Girl is an American pop duo consisting of George Merrill ( keyboards , vocals) and Shannon Rubicam (vocals).
history
The debut album of the same name was released in 1985. With the single Oh Girl , which was extracted from it , the duo achieved their first notable success with 39th place in the US charts.
The greatest success came in 1988 with the song Waiting for a Star to Fall from the second album Reel Life , which made it to position five in the US charts. The single Bring Down the Moon was also released from the same album , which reached 47th place in the US charts.
The third album New Dream , which was completed in 1991 , was no longer released due to a reorganization of the record company RCA that was currently taking place . As a result, individual demo CD copies of the album that appeared later reached values of up to US $ 700 at an Ebay auction. In 2004 this album was released after a remastering.
Even after the couple separated in 2000, the musical collaboration continued, so that in 2003 the fourth album The Wonderground could be produced.
In addition to the musical work for their own duo, Merrill and Rubicam also composed songs for various other artists, including the hits I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me) and How Will I Know for Whitney Houston .
A re-release of the debut album and new versions of the demo tapes for Whitney Houston are currently in the works .
Waiting for a Star to Fall was sampled in 2005 by the bands Cabin Crew and Sunset Strippers for their own songs.
