The bridge Palanga (lit. Palangos tiltas ) is a sea bridge on the Baltic Sea in the west Lithuanian city of Palanga and a sight of the spa town.

history

After the English of King Sigismund III. Wasa (1566-1632) received the right to expand the port, they built the Palanga pier in 1589.

In 1882, Count Juozapas Tiškevičius organized the reconstruction of the pier. They were mainly used for the export of bricks, for which a tram was set up to transport them to the port of Palanga . In summer the pier served as a promenade. They built balconies for protection from the rain. From 1892 the bridge was only used as a pedestrian zone. In August 1899 there was the premiere of the first Lithuanian play "Amerika im Dampfbad " (lit. Amerika pirtyje ) by Keturakis at the bridge .

The pier, built further south in 1997, is 470 meters long.
