At that time there was foreign trade in manufactured products , salt, metals and weapons. Grain, honey, flax and furs were exported from Lithuania . There was an exchange of goods. The port of Palanga was a competitor to the ports of Riga, Liepaja and Klaipeda .

In 1701 the Swedish army overthrew the ports in Palanga and Šventoji . From 1705 the port was no longer used for trade.

In the 19th century the landgraves Tiškevičiai tried in vain to renew the city of Palanga as a port.
