Starostwo

Starostwo ( German : Starostei ) has been a stage in the territorial division of the Polish state since the Middle Ages.

At the top of Starostwo stood until 1795, the Starost , appointed directly by the king.

Since 1918 it has been used in Poland to describe the administration of a powiat , which corresponds to a district . Here refers Starostwo both the Office and the building, the seat of the starost .
