Brachinus is a genus of beetles from the family of ground beetles (Carabidae). It is spread all over the world.
features
The beetles are usually less than 10 millimeters long and two-tone red-blue. The elytra are rather arched, horizontal, more or less arched with distinct shoulders and extended backwards. Rows of dots are not available, but there are often suggested flat longitudinal furrows. As a rule, no skin seam can be seen at the rear edge. There is no chin tooth . Usually the head is a little wider than the pronotum . The pronotum is narrow, heart-shaped. The neck shield angle is a little less than 90 °. Very dense, even fine hairs are present on the elytra. The head and pronotum are only slightly hairy, but the temples are clearly visible. The 3 anterior tarsi of the males are weakly enlarged. Its 7th sternite is deeply cut in the middle of the rear margin .
