Brad Sucks is a Canadian pop rock band. It was founded in 2001 by Brad Turcotte (born November 14, 1976 ) and was one of the first bands to use free music distribution, in the sense of free software .

Turcotte released the first fully self-produced single "Brad Sucks One" in 2001 on its website. He published it as open source music, so he put the individual components (audio files) that made up the song freely on the Internet.

Turcotte renounces many rights to his music, which enabled the free distribution through social networks and open source music portals and thus contributed to the rapid success of his music. In 2004 he contributed a new audio scheme for the instant messenger Pidgin .

The album "Out of It" was released on September 8, 2008. On December 1, 2008, Turcotte published a brief message on its website that Spence and McGarvy have left the band.

Brad Turcotte has continued the project as a solo musician since then, which is also evident in the newer songs, as they rely a lot on electronic sounds. On November 2, 2012, the third studio album Guess Who's A Mess was released after a long time .
