The Brand's Hotel is a former hotel in the Scottish village of Ceres in the Council Area Fife . In 1972 the building was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in Category B as an individual monument . The associated rear building was classified as a monument of the highest category A at the same time.

history

The building of Brand's Hotel was built in the 17th century. An annex was added during the 19th century. Over the centuries the building has been redesigned several times. The rear building was originally a mill that was built in 1744. In the 19th century it was used as a granary.

description

The Brand's Hotel is in the center of Ceres next to the Fife Folk Museum . The stream Ceres Burn runs backwards. The masonry of the building consists of quarry stone with natural stone surrounds . Built into the hillside, the hotel is one-story on the street side and two-story on the rear. The annex with a slate roof is from the early 19th century. The final gable roof is covered with tiles.

The years 1744 and 1776 can be found on the rear building. On the east side there is an extension that was added only a short time after construction. The gable roof of the two-story building is covered with tiles. The west-facing gable is designed as a stepped gable .
