Brand is a Dutch brewery from Wijlre in the province of Limburg .

history

Wijlre has a brewing tradition that goes back to the 14th century. The brewery has had its current name since 1871. It goes back to the then owner Frederik Edmond Brand. At the beginning of the 20th century, Brand was one of the first breweries in the Netherlands to bring the beer type Pils onto the market. In 1961 Brand became purveyor to the court of the Dutch royal family. In 1989 the brewery was taken over by Dutch competitor Heineken , who in 1992 also took over the title of purveyor to the court.

The brand brewery has an output of around half a million hectoliters (2006). The products include:

  • Brand Pilsener (since 1902)
  • Brand UP ( export beer )
  • Brand Oud Bruin (sweet, dark beer with a low alcohol content)
