Brandon Woudstra

Brandon Woudstra (born September 30, 1980 ) is a former American basketball player who was a professional in the German basketball league , among other things .

career

Woudstra played at Orange City Unity Christian High School in the city of Orange City, Iowa until 1999 and at Northwestern College from 1999 to 2003 . With 2,478 points, he sat at the top of the eternal basketball list of the college's basketball team from the US state of Iowa . In 2003, his 648 basket assists also represented the best value of all players who ever wore the Northwestern jersey. In 2001 and 2003 Woudstra won the championship title in the NAIA Division 2 with the university team , and in the 2002/03 season he was named Player of the Year in the league.

After the end of his college career Woudstra played during the summer of 2003 in the state of Ohio for the Akron Wingfoots in the league NABL . For the 2003/04 season he moved to the Icelandic first division club UMF Njarðvík . At the end of his first season as a professional basketball player, he was named Guard of the Year by the Icelandic League (named by the basketball service eurobasket.com ). At the Dutch honorary division club Aris Leeuwarden, Woudstra shone in the 2004/05 season with an average of 23.3 per game as the best thrower in the league.

From 2005 to 2007 he was under contract with Bayer Leverkusen in the basketball league . In the 2005/06 season Woudstra was the best basket scorer of the Rhinelander with an average of 17.0 points per encounter. In 2007 he went from Leverkusen to Bundesliga competitor EnBW Ludwigsburg , where he was also the team's best points collector in his first 2007/08 season (15.2 points on average). After the end of the 2008/09 season, he retired from professional sports at the age of 28 and started working for a bank in his hometown of Orange City.
