Branko Šmon

Branko Šmon (* 1955 in Maribor , Slovenia ) is a European object and installation artist.

Life and career

From 1978 to 1985, Šmon studied painting and drawing with Rudolf Schoofs at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart . Awarded numerous prizes and grants, Šmon has been working as a freelance international artist since 1985. In addition to a comprehensive graphic work, he generated u. a. Art projects in the USA, Germany, Russia, South Korea, Slovenia, Yugoslavia and Belgium.

In his work, Šmon reflects the connection and networking of at first glance opposing couples: the connection and mutual communication between nature and culture, people and technology, business and science, or politics and society. Based on researched facts, he implements these systemic connections in space-consuming installations - always granting natural chance as a dialogue partner.
