The Brasserie d'Achouffe is a Belgian brewery in the municipality of Houffalize in the Bastogne arrondissement of the Walloon province of Luxembourg .

The dwarfs La Chouffe and Mc Chouffe

At the end of the 1970s, Pierre Gobron and his brother-in-law Chris Bauweraerts decided to brew their own beer as a hobby. In 1982 the brewery Brasserie d'Achouffe was founded and the production and commercial distribution of the light strong beer La Chouffe began. Based on the legends of the Ardennes , a dwarf was chosen as the brewery's corporate logo. La Chouffe has also been exported since 1988. In September 2006, the Duvel Moortgat group of companies took over the private brewery and the retail range was expanded to include other types and brands of beer; the international sales network was also expanded considerably. In addition, the inclusion of a clear was brandy to Grappa -type and a coffee liqueur in the accompanying range of beers.

Today the Brasserie d'Achouffe employs around 23 people, with an annual output of around 21,000 hectoliters, which are exported to more than 20 countries. The main customers are the Netherlands .
