The Max Leibinger GmbH brewery is a family-run Upper Swabian brewery based in Ravensburg .
history
The brewery was founded in 1862 and taken over in 1892 by the postman Benedikt Birk as the "Benedictine brewery". Max Leibinger acquired the brewery in 1894. In 1901 Leibinger launched the region's first bottled beer. From 1918 to 1922 he bought several surrounding breweries. In 1922 his son Robert Leibinger joined the company. From 1946 the position of brewery director was occupied by Jost Metzler . When Robert Leibinger's son Max joined the company in 1959, the brewery was extensively modernized. Master brewer Michael Leibinger joined the company in 1996 and developed the drink Max 5.2 . In 2000 he took over the management. In 2002 the Seeradler brand was introduced.
After the closure of the “Bürgerliches Brauhaus” in 2001, the Max Leibinger brewery is the only remaining brewery in Ravensburg.

The Bierbuckelfest is an annual event that takes place on the premises of the Leibinger Brewery. The event begins with the tapping of the keg by the company manager Michael Leibinger and offers the guests an extensive supporting program with live music and a sporting competition, the "beer athlon". The first Bierbuckelfest took place in 1986 and was held for the launch of the naturally cloudy, dark special beer "Leibinger Bierbuckel".
