Katarína Hasprová

Katarína Hasprová (born September 10, 1972 in Bratislava ) is a Slovak singer who took part in the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest .

biography

Hasprová is the daughter of the famous director Pavol Haspra and the actress Soňa Valentová . After graduating from high school in Bratislava, she studied in the music department at the Janáček Academy in the Czech city of Brno . In the following years she played in various musicals at home and abroad. In 1997 she received a golden lyre for the song Jedno zbohom, which enabled her to pursue a career as a singer.

Already in the following year she represented her home country at the Eurovision Song Contest 1998 in Birmingham , UK , but only achieved 21st place out of 25 participants with the song Modlitba ( Eng . "A prayer"). For the next eleven years, Slovakia stayed away from the music competition .

The following year her debut album Katarína Hasprová was released . The music video for the pilot single Izabel was featured frequently on Slovak television. In 2001 she worked on her new album, the next year the album Chvíľu so mnou leť was released. Since then she has appeared in various roles, including singing in musicals and performing at many prestigious festivals.
