Breakthrough Prize
The Breakthrough Prize is a series of awards given to outstanding scientific work. In particular, it consists of three individual prizes, each endowed with 3 million dollars (as of 2015):
- Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics (awarded since 2012)
- Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences (awarded since 2013)
- Breakthrough Prize in Mathematics (awarded since 2014)
In addition, "New Horizons" awards are given to young scientists. There is also the Breakthrough Junior Challenge for students aged 13 to 18. In 2015, a total of $ 22 million in prize money was awarded.
