Broadband dipoles are dipole antennas in which the radiator elements are not rod-shaped, but are usually implemented as conically widened wire structures (so-called traps or biconical elements). Occasionally, end capacities made from sheet metal disks are used instead of biconical elements. The classic biconical antennas are used in particular in the frequency range from 30 to 300 MHz, but broadband dipoles that can be used up to 18 GHz have also been developed in recent years.
