The Breitenbachhof residential complex in Bremen , Gröpelingen district, Ohlenhof district , Breitenbachhof 1 to 23B / Barenburg / Klitzenburg / Wasserhorster Strasse / Wummensiederstrasse, was built until 1919 according to plans by Rudolf Jacobs . This ensemble of buildings has been a listed building in Bremen since 1978

history

The two- to three-storey residential complex of the turn of the century in reform style was built from 1915 to 1919 by the Eisenbahn-Spar- und Bauverein (Espabau) from 1893 as a socio-political model project. The railway settlement with 162 apartments is grouped around two large inner courtyards. 142 floor apartments were built by 1919 and a further 20 apartments later through the expansion of the top floors with the formative mansard roofs . In the past only railroad workers lived here. a. worked as shunters, signalmen, locomotive drivers or conductors. The previously organized neighborhood no longer exists. Today the BeiUns neighborhood center still exists in the former bakery. Some apartments are occupied by residents from the Bremen workshop .
