The bridge called "Ferry"

The Breitenburg ferry is a fault crossing between the communities of Breitenburg and Oelixdorf .

The ferry service was replaced by a bridge in 1621. Nevertheless, the fault crossing is still referred to as the "Breitenburg ferry". State road 116 runs over today's bridge .

An inn located by the bridge on the Breitenburg side is named after the former ferry. This is (as of May 2020) no longer in operation.

A bronze sculpture by the sculptor Karlheinz Goedtke has been a reminder of the past and history of this fault transition since 1979 . It shows the different stages of development from a ford over ferry, wooden bridge, steel bridge to today's prestressed concrete bridge. The bronze sculpture was inaugurated by the mayor of Breitenburg, Karl-Hermann Wieckhorst.

A little further south is the Breitenburg Castle .
