Broad pillars on Leopoldauer Strasse

The broad pillar is a small sacred monument. It is on the sidewalk at the intersection of Leopoldauer Straße and Heinrich-von-Buol-Gasse in Vienna's 21st district of Floridsdorf .

history

The column was erected in the 17th century. In essence, it may come from the Middle Ages.

description

A massive octagonal broad pillar stands above a round base . The also octagonal top, which is as thick as the pillar, is set off by a strong, sturdy cornice . The top contains a deep rectangular niche that is wood-framed and glazed. The broad pillar is completed by a two-armed gold-plated metal cross with widened ends.
