The historic large dairy in Bremerland was an independent company with its sole headquarters in Bremen until the end of the 1990s . After merging with Nordmilch , the company was wound up in 2005 and merged with the Milram brand . Due to the high level of ties between the Bremen population and Bremerland, farmers in the state of Bremen approached the Deutsche Milchkontor at the beginning of 2020 to revive the brand.

On February 28, 2020, DMK announced the relaunch of the Bremerland brand. The first products under the Bremerland brand name should be available for purchase again as early as April 2020. The milk used for these products comes exclusively from farms in the state of Bremen.

history

The historic Bremerland large dairy has a moving history behind it. Founded in 1930 as the Bremer Milchabsatzgenossenschaft , the company's headquarters were for decades on Admiralstrasse in the Findorff district of Bremen. In 1965 the Bremer Milchabsatzgenossenschaft renamed itself Großmolkerei Bremerland , which advertised its products under the name Bremerland . At the beginning of the 1990s, due to lack of space, production and administration were relocated to the Lower Saxony area to Stuhr-Seckenhausen. After the large dairy in Bremerland was taken over by what was then Nordmilch in 1999 , the administrative headquarters were moved back to Bremen. In 2005 the company was finally merged with Nordmilch and the Bremerland brand was replaced by Milram .

Nordmilch itself has been operating as Deutsches Milchkontor since 2010 . On February 28, 2020, DMK announced that it would again be selling products under the Bremerland brand

Significance for the state of Bremen

Bremerland has always had great regional importance in the federal state of Bremen and thus a brand strength that the Milram brand could never achieve. This is due, on the one hand, to the fact that Bremerland products were always local products from the region and therefore several generations grew up with the products, and on the other hand, because Bremerland appeared as a major sponsor at various events and companies. For example, the historic Bremerland was a major sponsor of both SV Werder Bremen and the Bremen 6-day race .
