Jens Arlt

Jens Arlt (born March 30, 1969 ) is a colonel in the Army of the German Armed Forces and has been the brigade commander of Airborne Brigade 1 since April 2020 .

Military career

Training and first uses

Arlt joined the German Armed Forces in 1989 as a basic military service member of the 11th Panzer Reconnaissance Training Battalion in Munster . After the change in the career of the officers of the army service he became an officer cadet and 1990-1994 Officer of the armored reconnaissance troop trained. As one of the few officers without a degree, Arlt did not attend a Bundeswehr university . Instead, he was employed as a platoon leader in the 13th Panzer Reconnaissance Battalion in Gotha . Arlt applied to the Special Forces Command (KSK) in Calw and successfully completed the selection process. Service as a staff officer

Back in Calw, his first staff assignment took place in 2004 as staff officer G3 (operation and exercise) at the KSK. In 2006 he was transferred to the post of advisor in the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg), Command Staff V 6 (deployment of the Bundeswehr) in Bonn and in 2008 in the deployment command staff 7 (Fundamentals and Operations Special Forces / Specialized Forces; National Crisis Prevention), before becoming commander in 2009 forces again to KSK offset was.

Service on general duty

In April 2020, Arlt took over the leadership of Airborne Brigade 1 from Dirk Faust .

Assignments abroad

During his time at KSK, Arlt took part in missions abroad in Bosnia and Herzegovina ( SFOR ), Kosovo ( KFOR ), as part of Operation Enduring Freedom and the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
