Bremsberg ( Danish : Bremsbjerg ) is a district of the city of Glücksburg in Schleswig-Holstein. It is located east of Alt-Glücksburg.

The district was apparently named after the mountain of the same name on which it lies. The field name probably goes back to the dialect brake (see brake ), which is used in South Jutland for various insects . Mining has not been handed down from the Bremsberg, so that it can probably not be a corresponding Bremsberg . The first settlement took place as early as 3000 to 3500 years before Christ. A relic of this time, a capstone of a grave, was recovered in the course of construction work on the Bremsberg and has since stood as a demonstration object of the dolmen path at the entrance to the Schauenthal forest, Friedeholz , at the foot of the mountain.

For the year 1784 a parceling of the "Vorwerk land" on the Bremsberg is handed down. In 1963 a residential area was finally built on the Bremsberg. In the 1980s the residential area was expanded again considerably. At some point during this period, the ADS Kindergarten Glücksburg at Goethestrasse 11 was evidently built at Bremsberg. The district of Bremsberg was and will be accessed from the north via the Propst-Lüders-Allee and Bremsbergerallee and from the south via Aeröallee. On May 24, 1995, after six years of construction, a “center for adapted technology and development cooperation” called “artefact” opened on the Bremsberg.

At the beginning of the 2000s, the city decided, given the high average age of Glücksburg, to give more families with children the opportunity to settle in Glücksburg. As a result, it was decided to develop further areas on the Bremsberg with single-family houses. The new building area was named Bremsberg-Holkier. In 2008/09 the first construction phase began, Holkier 1 with the Prestmark strait, in which 45 people found a home. Shortly afterwards the second construction phase began, Holkier 2 with the Ladegaard access road. In the area there, 38 people found a new home. The third construction phase, Holkier 3, was completed around 2012. Holkier Street was lengthened and around sixteen other single-family houses were built on. The building area of ​​3 hectares in Kleiner-Bremsberg has been under construction since the beginning of 2015. In the absence of restrictive regulations, the houses were built in a wide variety of architectural styles, so that Bauhaus cubes stand next to wooden bungalows, Tuscany houses and houses in the Frisian style. The mix of styles was sometimes criticized as “architects goulash” after it was built. Its street Kleiner-Bremsberg leads once in a circle and was not connected to the previous building areas.

In 2017 the development of the 2.5 hectare building area, north of the Bremsbergallee, called Großer-Bremsberg, with 31 plots and a similar street layout as the Kleine-Bremsberg began. The goal of settling more young families in the village gradually succeeded. Incidentally, this also led to an increase in the demand for kindergarten places. In the next few years, according to plans from 2018, the consul paddock and the water paddock on the Bremsberg will be built on. On the east-running Brusmark road, which leads to a remote farm belonging to the Bremer farmer, the rural, undeveloped natural area has largely been preserved to this day.
