Brendan Greene

Brendan Greene (also known as PlayerUnknown , * 1976 in Ballyshannon, Ireland) is an Irish game designer and former DJ .

Career

He first received major attention in 2011 with the development of Battle Royale , a mod for ArmA 2 and two years later for ArmA 3 . His breakthrough came as the chief developer of the action shooter PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds . Greene lived and worked in South Korea as Creative Director for the internal studio PUBG Corporation, which belongs to the Bluehole company based there . He is regarded as the "father of the battle royale genre" in the gaming scene. At the beginning of 2019 Greene announced that he would leave the development of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and devote himself to new projects. Since March 2019, Greene has been development manager of the Amsterdam- based, newly founded studio PUBG Special Projects , which is a subdivision of the PUBG Corporation and deals with new experiences in the multiplayer area.
