Weygand distillery

The Weygand distillery was a schnapps factory in Hattingen . It was one of the major producers of spirits in the Ruhr area .

history

The distillery was founded in 1804 by August Weygand on the site of the former Kliff manor .

The company's core site was later located directly on the old town. The company went out in 1972. The 48 meter high red chimney was blown up in 1972. A department store was built on the site, and now the Reschop Carré is located here . The schnapps manufacturer Hans Rother from Werne took over licenses and recipes and committed to bringing Weygand products onto the market until 1983. The Rother company went out in 1985.

The later Villa Schack was one of the houses of the Weygand family .
