Bret Baier (born August 4, 1970 ) is an American journalist and television presenter. He was best known as the White House correspondent for the cable news broadcaster Fox News and as the presenter of the newscast Special Report with Bret Baier .

Life and work

After attending the Catholic Marist High School, a Catholic private school in Atlanta, which he left in 1988, Baier studied at DePauw University , which he left with a bachelor's degree in political science and English. During his student days he was a member of the Sigma Chi Association. He then worked as a journalist for the channels WRAL-TV in Raleigh, WREX-TV in Rockford and WJWJ-TV in Beaufort.

In 1998, Baier began working as a reporter for Fox News. For this he reported, among other things, as a correspondent on the Kosovo war , the execution of Timothy McVeigh , the attacks of September 11th and the Third Iraq War. In addition, he was successively the main correspondent of his station in the Pentagon and in the White House. During this time, he conducted numerous exclusive interviews with politicians such as George W. Bush , Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney .

On December 23, 2008, Baier took over as the successor to Brit Hume, moderating the program Special Report , a political magazine that Fox News broadcasts on weekdays at 6:00 p.m. East Coast time and which focuses on domestic political issues.
