Pen pal
Penpal is the personal, private and regular correspondence of mostly two people over a greater distance through the exchange of letters or - with the advent of the Internet - e-mail . In the case of e-mails the forms of the letters are friendly extended because several people can participate in the communication at the same time and on Internet forums easier penpals can be initiated in specific areas.
Pen pals in a school context
In school, pen pals are often initiated from an educational perspective. In addition to learning how to deal with your own language or a foreign language, the focus is on broadening your horizons by getting to know the customs and cultures of other cities and countries. For example, the state of Baden-Württemberg implements the "Writing letters" lesson in the German curriculum for 5th grade.

The tradition of many scientific and personal discussions of well-known sizes can consist of the correspondence carried out within pen pals.
