Brightstock
Brightstock (English also bright stock (oil) ) is the name of a lubricant that is used for the production of motor oil and oil additives .
Crude oil consists of a large number of organic substances that have to be split up and separated in order to obtain the desired fraction (often a mixture of substances). It is in the interests of the oil production and processing industry to utilize the crude oil obtained as completely as possible. Waste products are processed further (e.g. by cracking ) until they have also turned into a product that is as easy to use as possible.
The vacuum distillation of crude oil leaves residues that are deasphalted for further use. As part of this process, a very light-colored oil of high viscosity is created : the so-called bright stock.
