Brisbane is an impact crater to the south of the lunar front , southwest of Mare Australe , south of Peirescius crater, and west of Lyot . The rim of the crater is moderately eroded, the interior largely level with a small central mountain .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the British astronomer Thomas Brisbane .
