Britax Römer is a manufacturer of child safety products (child car and bicycle seats , strollers ). The company has its European headquarters in Leipheim and is represented worldwide under the umbrella brand Britax. The production sites in Europe are in Leipheim and Andover , southern England.

history

Britax Römer was created in 1978 from the merger of the German manufacturer Römer and the British Britax . The Ulm company Römer was founded in 1871. Britax was founded in the 1930s. The company expanded mainly in the 1980s and 1990s to the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia and the Far East. Today the company is a global company with nine locations worldwide in Australia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Sweden and the USA.

After the Britax group acquired the BOB brand, a series of strollers specially designed for outdoor use, in 2011, the company has also been running the BOB brand in Europe since 2013.

In 2013, Britax Römer acquired the stroller and child seat division from the Swedish BRIO Holding AB.

Technical innovations

In the 1970s, Britax Römer developed innovations such as the so-called Römer PEGGY , the first child car seat . In 1999 the company brought the so-called ISOFIX anchoring system onto the market.

The latest innovation from Britax Römer is the TRIFIX child seat (group 1) equipped with the ISOFIX + system .

Britax Römer is also a specialist in rear-facing child car seats ( reboarders ) in Europe. In 2013 the company launched the first reboarder with integrated ISOFIX anchoring .

According to the European patent register, Britax Römer Kindersicherheit GmbH currently holds 36 patents in Europe. In addition, there are 11 further patents by Britax-Excelsior Limited and Römer-Britax Autogurte GmbH.
