The remains of the Burgar Broch have been removed, with the exception of a 15.0 m long and 2.7 m high area of the northern outer wall. The Broch is located in the parish of Evie and Rendall on Mainland , the main island of Orkney in Scotland . A brochure of the same name is located in the neighboring parish of Sandwick.

The traces of cells or galleries can still be recognized on the surface. FWL Thomas described it in 1851 as still 4.3 m high in places, with 18.3 m in outer diameter and with about 5.2 m thick walls. Allegedly, the "Orcadian" (newspaper) reported on January 10, 1863, a certain Gordon found two skeletons and amber and silver objects in an urn after 1825 and threw them into the sea so that they would not have to be handed over to the crown. According to D. Wilson in 1851 and a note from G. Petrie, two fine gold bracelets, which are said to have come from the Broch, were in the possession of the Count of Zetland. A polished bone needle and about 30 shards of rough, undecorated pottery were found in 1980, according to B. Bell.

The Broch, which is listed near the sea like many Orcadian systems, is in danger of being destroyed by cliff erosion.

The brochure did not provide any age-related data. According to the current state of knowledge, the earliest start of construction in Brochs , confirmed by C 14 dating, is around 400 BC. The longest, probably uninterrupted use , also secured by C 14 dating, extends into the late 8th, possibly even into the 9th century AD. Most of the buildings were built between 200 BC. And 200 AD
