The Brown County Jamboree was a US country show broadcast by WIBC and WIRE of Bean Blossom , Indiana .

history

The show was hosted by Jack Morrow. The Brown County Jamboree was on the air from 1941 to 1987. Similar to the Grand Ole Opry or the Town Hall Party , the shows were broadcast live. The Brown County Jamborees' first show aired on September 28, 1941. The show was first held with an audience in a large tent, later in a specially built barn, the "Brown County Jamboree Barn". During the winter months, the show toured the states of Indiana and Kentucky many times . The show was several hours long; only the first was broadcast on the radio. The musicians who performed were of local, regional and national origins.

When Birch Monroe , director of the show, died in 1982, the Jamboree barn came into the possession of Bill's son, James Monroe. This had the building demolished. In 1987 the Brown County Jamboree was discontinued.
