Bru Jne. & Cie. Just Bru called, was one of the 19th century in France , founded dolls - Manufaktur . The company enjoyed a reputation as one of the best manufacturers of porcelain head dolls , but was also one of the pioneers of mechanically powered dolls.
history
The company was founded in 1866 by Léon Casimir Bru , who had dolls with certain names registered as trademarks as early as the 1850s
- 1855: Le Dormeur ("The Sleeping One ");
- 1867: Surprise Doll .
The company (Cie.) Had its headquarters in Paris and Montreuil . The dolls created there were made of porcelain as well as wood, rubber and papier-mâché . Some collectors divide the dolls into just three categories:
- Heads of a baby (bébe ') on a child's body,
- Bru doll head on a wooden and a mass composition body, as well
- Fashion dolls, French “pupee de mode” or English “fashion ladies”.
Up until 1899, Bru's dolls were marked with a variety of markings and porcelain brands, from simple ones like a dot over a lying crescent moon to complex trademarks .
The Bébé Bru trademark was used for both rigid and mechanical dolls. For the dolls developed by Bru, "[...] who could imitate walking, talking, eating and other expressions of life", Bru registered the following trademarks:
- 1878: Bébé Teteur ;
- 1881: Bébé Gourmand ;
- 1891: Bébé Petit Pas ("triple baby)".
In 1899 Bru was one of the founding members and since then has been a co-owner of the Société Française de Fabrication de Bébés et Jouets ( SFBJ ).
In 1938 and 1955, SFBJ used the Bru trademark again.
