Josef Diehl

Josef Diehl (born July 18, 1898 in Eisenberg (Palatinate) ; † January 11, 1971 there ) was a German state politician ( SPD ).

Diehl attended elementary school and then worked in clay mining from 1912 to 1938. From 1938 to 1946 he was foreman in the chamotte industry.

In 1924 Diehl became a member of the SPD. For many years he was deputy chairman of the SPD local association. In 1946 he became a member of the Eisenberg municipal council and was honorary mayor of Eisenberg from 1946 to 1953 and full-time mayor from 1953 to 1963. He was a member of the district council and district committee.

From May 18, 1951 to May 31, 1955, he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament . In the state parliament he was a member of the agricultural policy committee and the budget and finance committee.

In addition, he was a union member from 1916 and 1921 to 1933 gymnastics supervisor of the workers gymnastics and sports club. The “Bürgermeister-Diehl-Straße” in Eisenberg is named after him.
