Bruce Reid (football player)

Bruce Reid (born July 5,  1971 ) is a retired Canadian football player .

career

Vancouver native Reid played as a running back at Simon Fraser University in the Canadian province of British Columbia . There he played with Dino Bucciol as he did later with the Hamburg Blue Devils . In 1993, the Calgary Stampeders  from the Canadian league CFL secured the rights to Reid, but he did not make the jump into the squad.

From 1995 he was part of the Hamburg Blue Devils squad. With the team he became German champion in 1996 and Eurobowl winner in 1996, 1997 and 1998 . For the 1999 season, Reid brought his brother Angus to Hamburg, who then also played for the Blue Devils.

After the end of the 2000 season, Bruce Reid returned to Canada and worked for a brewery there. The Hamburg Blue Devils decided not to award the number 31 worn by Reid in recognition of his achievements.
