Bruhnskoppel is a residential area in the municipality of Malente in the Ostholstein district and is located on the northern bank of the Krummsee . The settlement is in the Krummsee district in the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park .

History and culture

The Hotel Bruhnskoppel , which stands on a 74 meter high Ice Age elevation, the Malkwitzer Höhe, had cultural significance . The Immenhof Festival , which relates to the Immenhof films from the 1950s to 1970s , was held there in an open-air stage . The hotel has a 21-meter-high observation tower from 1902. Before that, there was a restaurant built in 1870 by the painter Johann Grebien and later destroyed by a storm.

The hotel was closed in 2010 and the site has been idle ever since. The buildings were scrapped, components and valuable interiors were auctioned off. The complete demolition in favor of a new building is planned.

The Bruhnskoppel residential area is named after Hufner Bruhns, a former owner of the site. The poet and writer Klaus Groth wrote one of his poems here in July 1876.

Rail transport

Until 1976, Bruhnskoppel was connected to the Malente-Gremsmühlen-Lütjenburg railway line with a stop for passenger traffic. Originally there was also a goods handling facility , which was housed in a station building made of yellow brick. It also contained a gatekeeper, a ticket office and a waiting room.
