The fountain theater (occasionally also mentioned as fountain theater ; formerly: Kurtheater ) in the Helmstedt district of Bad Helmstedt in Lower Saxony was built in 1927 in the Lappwald .

In the 615-seat theater, 50 to 60 performances by touring ensembles take place in the season from September to May, including numerous guest performances by well-known and international stages.

The spa theater , which opened for the first time on June 18, 1815, came to a standstill as a result of the First World War . The rather simple half-timbered building was demolished in 1924. Today's theater was reopened on June 1, 1927 under the name Brunnentheater after three years of construction with the performance of the operetta Countess Mariza .
