The Bruno Kreisky Park

The Bruno-Kreisky-Park is a park in the 5th district of Vienna , Margareten . It is located right next to the Margaretengürtel and the right Wienzeile .

After the line wall was razed at the end of the 19th century, the facility was originally built as Sankt-Johann-Park in the Hundsturm district . In 1908 it was named after the Spital Zu St. Johann an der Als , which was founded by Friedrich the Beautiful , who once owned this area.

On July 29, 2005, the park was renamed on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the death of Bruno Kreisky due to its proximity to the house where he was born. Kreisky spent his childhood and youth in the house at Schönbrunner Straße 122, which is located in the first block from the park into town. In 2006, Kreisky's bust designed by Christine Pillhofer was placed in the park.

The Hundsturm Chapel is located on St.-Johann-Gasse on the edge of the 10,300 m² area towards the city center .
